Accident & Emergency

FUNCTIONS OF ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT OF IMaH

The Accident & Emergency Department of IMaH is staffed with medical personnel equipped with the knowledge and skills required to care for patients with very urgent healthcare needs. They have the capability to assess and treat a wide range of illnesses, and potentially life or limb threatening conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, fractures, asthma attacks, injuries resulting from road traffic accidents, pregnancy related emergencies and overdoses.

At IMaH, we believe that a patient’s chance of survival is greatly improved if definitive treatment (i.e. surgery or reperfusion) is received within one hour (the golden hour) of an accident (such as a road traffic accident) or onset of acute illness (e.g. heart attack). The A&E of IMAH, complemented by our spacious helipad, is well placed, equipped and staffed to minimize morbidity and mortality associated with these incidents
