Our Imaging department, considered the flagship of IMaH is among the most well equipped imaging centres in Sub-Saharan Africa. We provide a full range of diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic radiology investigations for both adults and children on all the body parts.

Collaborative, Client-centered Care

IMaH Radiologists collaborate with a variety of different medical and surgical professionals to ensure you receive the best possible treatment. Radiologists and other doctors trained in obstetrics and gynaecology, urology, pediatrics, otorhinolaryngology (ENT)/head and neck surgery, haematology, oncology, gastroenterology and hepatology, cardiovascular medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, or vascular surgery may be part of your care team, depending on your situation.

To deliver efficient imaging services, our radiologists partner with expert radiographers, sonographers and nurses. As a result, your test results are usually accessible soon, and your appointments are coordinated. For your benefit, highly specialized professionals work together.

Our Services

IMaH Radiologists use advanced imaging technology to ensure that you obtain an accurate diagnosis to guide your treatment. Only a few medical institutes have access to many of these cutting-edge imaging techniques.

Our equipment include:

MRI Scan – Our 3 Tesla MRI scanner is the 1st of its kind in the country. An MRI scanner uses a very powerful magnet and radio waves to produce images of the whole body. Our MRI scanner has a wide bore and can accommodate large body sizes. Sedation is available for claustrophobic clients or clients who are required to sleep during the procedure. MR procedures include but are not limited to scans of the head and neck, abdomen, pelvis, joints, spine, whole body MRI, Foetal MRI, Prostate scan, MRI angiography, MRI enterography, Functional Brain MRI and Cranial nerve imaging etc.

Computerised Tomography (CT) scan – A CT scanner uses X-rays to produce detailed three-dimensional images of the body. Our 128 slice CT scanner can perform all CT tests, with and without contrast administration including images of the head and neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis, spine and joints as well as CT perfusion and CT angiograms etc.

Digital X-Ray– A floor mounted X-ray machine is available to take x-rays of all body parts as well as mobile x-ray machines to be used at the emergency, wards and ICU.

Digital Mammography – This involves the use of low dose x-rays for accurate imaging of the breasts for screening and diagnosis of breast cancers.

Fluoroscopy– This provides a continuous stream of x-ray imaging which is used for physiological and structural assessment of the oesophagus, stomach, bowels, fallopian tubes, kidneys, bladder, urethra and fistulae among other body parts. Still images and videos of procedures such as Barium/ contrast studies, Retrograde urethrogram, Micturating cystourethrogram (MCUG), Hysterosalpingogram (HSG), Fistulogram, Distal Loopogram etc can be accurately assessed.

C-arm– This is a type of fluoroscopic x-ray machine commonly used in theatres for orthopaedic and neurosurgical procedures as well pain management, interventional procedures and emergency medicine.

Dental X-ray– Available for OPG.

Ultrasonography– Ultrasound imaging generates sound waves which produce images of the body’s internal structures using a transducer or probe. It does not use ionizing radiation, has no known side effects, and produces clear image of soft tissues that are difficult to see on x-rays. It can also be utilized to offer image guidance for needle biopsies or to observe and assess blood flow conditions. It’s also the best way to keep an eye on a pregnant woman and her unborn child.

We provide all ultrasound procedures including Doppler scans, 3D foetal ultrasound, thyroid scan, scrotal scan, breast scan, ultrasound scan of the joints etc. Ultrasound guided biopsies are also available.
