Dr Sylvester Yaw Oppong has over 20years experience as a physician, academician, researcher, health economist and healthcare administrator.

Dr. Akwasi Afriyie Achampong joined International Maritime Hospital in November 2021 with over 25 years of industry experience. He is an Internal Medicine Specialist certified in New York and he is linked with multiple hospitals including Long Island Jewish Medical Center and South Nassau Communities Hospital. He is also a current member of the Xavier University School of Medicine Board of Trustees.

He is the immediate past Board Chair of the Ghana Standards Authority (2017-2021) where he masterminded the transformation of the institution into a financially independent one with improved stream of services and quality assurance as the bedrock.

Originally trained as a pharmacist he went on to train as a medical doctor. After receiving his medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Achampong went on to obtain a residency at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. After his residency, he joined Roselle Medical Office and practiced as an internist, later moving on to open a private practice at Elmont Medical PC on Long Island. He is also the President of the Baldwin University College in Ghana. To provide medical care for the underprivileged in developing countries, Dr. Achampong joined the Organization for International Development (OID).  He is an accomplished entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and a student of history.

His vision is to guide IMaH to become the preferred centre of excellence in the medical and healthcare industry of the sub-region and beyond.

He has won several awards including;
