IMaH is designed for pharmacy services to be offered from three locations, namely Inpatient, Outpatient and VIP/Surgical Pharmacies.

MISSION

  • Provide excellent clinical patient care in accordance with accepted best practices
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility over medication use
  • Maintain compliance with all pertinent regulatory requirements
  • Expand services in response to changing health care needs
  • Serve as drug information resource for IMaH clinical staff and clients

OUTPATIENT PHARMACY OPERATIONS
Pharmacy Operations started with Out Patient Services in January 2018. The OPD Pharmacy is open 24 hours daily and offers the following services:

  • Medication Reconciliation
  • Medication therapy management in consultation with the medical team
  • Dispensing of medications using the automated Kardex medication management system
  • Patient counselling and education
  • Drug therapy review
  • Medication use review
  • Drug Safety monitoring
  • Clinical Pharmacy Services for clients, and at the Dialysis Center
  • Education programs and presentations

INPATIENT PHARMACY SERVICES OFFERED

The Department of Pharmacy Inpatient Operations provides an array of services which support care of patients who have been admitted at the inpatient care areas. .

These services include:

  • Unit dose medication distribution which involves the use of patient care unit dose cart-fill, and first dose dispensing using automated Kardex Dispensing Storage and Shelving System
  • Overnight prescription verification, dispensing and distribution
  • Provision of Clinical Pharmacy Services and discharge medication counselling
  • Controlled substance management
  • Code / Resuscitation cart assembly, distribution and maintenance
  • Supporting clinical and emergency teams in management of patients
  • Sterile preparation and distribution of both hazardous and non-hazardous medications in a USP 797-compliant environment
